28 October 2018 · Since publishing my memoir I've felt scared, apprensive, happy & tearful. |
I am 49 years old and currently living in the UK. I am mum to one son and one grandson I have a Sulcata tortoise and a big soft American Bulldog who keep me busy. I am a qualified Life coach and CBT Counsellor and plan on spending the rest of my life helping others to heal from past trauma's and encouraging them to discover and lead the life that they wish for and deserve. Website: https://www.carynwalker.com/ I am a good place right now in my life but that wasn't always the case: ********************************** My childhood was one of neglect and abuse. In 2011 - aged 40, I took my father to court, he was sentenced through a trial to 16 years in prison. He was realeased on New years eve 2019 and now gets to live the rest of his life as a free man. My mother has never been punished. In 2018, I published my memoir - 'Tell me you’re sorry, Daddy', that tells the story of my childhood and how I overcame so much to fight for justice. I wrote my story with the help of best selling ghostwriter Linda Watson-Brown and it made the Sunday Times bestsellers list after just two weeks. The book has been a roller coaster of emotions but is helping me to rid myself of my demons. The motivation behind my book has been my late sister Jenny, and my desire to help other people who have been through similar experiences. I took a perpetrator to court, after 30 years and with no real evidence other than my voice and I secured a 16-year conviction. My memoir is now a Sunday Times & Amazon bestseller, is available in French, German, Swedish and Dutch. This is my message. ‘If you only have your voice, you have your voice and it is powerful’ Thank you for reading. |
